Dr. S Arun

Dr. S Arun is an experienced Consultant Physician and Diabetologist at Kurinji Hospital in Coimbatore. He can also be consulted by appointment on weekday evenings at NG Hospital, which is in the Singanallur area of the city. Dr. Arun's areas of interest range from tertiary care of Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension to Dyslipidemia and Metabolic Disorders. He is also keenly interested in creating awareness about the prevention of Diabetes.

Dr. Arun holds an MBBS (1993) from Coimbatore Medical College and an MD in General Medicine (2001) from Stanley Medical College, Chennai. In addition he completed a Certificate Course in Evidence Based Diabetes Management (CCEBDM) in 2012, and a Certificate Course in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (CCGDM) in 2013.    

Prior to his current post at Kurinji Hospital, Dr. Arun worked at other hospitals in India and Dubai, and also has some teaching experience to his credit. He served as Consultant Physician and Diabetologist at RA Hospital, Coimbatore from 2001 to 2006. During this period he also taught at Coimbatore Medical College as Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, from 2002 to 2006, and was a Visiting Teaching Faculty member at KG Hospital and Postgraduate Medical Institute, Coimbatore, from 2003 to 2006. Dr. Arun then moved to Dubai, where he worked as Consultant Physician and Medical Director at Karama Medical Centre for four years, up to 2010. He then returned to Coimbatore and worked for a couple of years at ESI Hospital as Consultant Physician and Diabetologist, before joining Kurinji. 

Dr. S Arun has several published articles in reputed medical journals. He regularly speaks at Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes in Tamil Nadu, and was actively involved on the Organising Committee for the Annual Conference of the Association of Physicians of India (APICON) in 2013.
